Which is referenced in AniMat's Crazy Cartoon Cast: The New Normal (2020)
A prequel to the original Dune, it tells the story of how the Sisterhood of Rossak evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The incident with Valya Harkonnen using the voice is from one called “Mentats of Dune”. All three books intertwine the development of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk Doctors.
A pilot is, in my opinion, the most important episode of the series
It needs to have a clear hook, show original characters, and establish what’s coming next in the series. While HBO is obviously playing a joke on us by putting DUNE on the cover as a money grab, it sets the audience’s expectations for a series that is so closely tied to the core of Denis Villeneuve’s DUNE. While there are hints of Arrakis, I seriously doubt the series will continue in that direction.
While Denis asserts a more serious tone in Dune, this one feels much more childlike in comparison
The thing that will probably work against a series like this is that it will be compared to the original trilogy from time to time. The pacing is slow and the only time I’ve really felt like I was really hooked on the story is at the end of the episode, where most of the pen reaches the paper. The characters built up to this point are okay, but it’s not like I’ve ever seen these characteristics before.

To be honest, I’m not sure I’ll be keeping my eye on this, but my motto remains that a series sometimes needs about 2-3 episodes to clearly wear out its welcome. I’ll be keeping an eye out for the "Sisters" in the world of Dune.. A new season of "Silo" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
