Netgear Extender's Network

I am trying to join the Netgear extender’s network but it is not happening. I need to access the Netgear web interface using mywifext.net to change settings but as I can’t join the WiFi extender’s SSID Netgear_ext on any device in my home, I can’t log in. Please help me connect.

Is this the same issue that’s troubling you right now? If yes is what you’re saying right now then read what’s given in the guide. Here we have discussed the best fixes for Netgear extender’s SSID not found.

Unable to Connect to Netgear Extender’s Network: Fixed

Select the Right SSID

Make certain that you are selecting the correct SSID or the network name to join the WiFi of the Netgear extender while connecting. Choose the extender’s SSID from the list of available networks on your PC or mobile phone. This is the default SSID of the Netgear WiFi extender. If you have changed the default SSID, then use the one that you’ve assigned to it. If this SSID is not available in the list then do what’s mentioned in the hack.

Check Netgear Extender’s Power Supply

If the Netgear wireless extender is not turned on completely then also you won’t be able to connect to its network. So, check the power connection to the extender now. Ensure that it is stable and consistent. Check the power cable and the power adapter. Mend any faulty connection right away and then see if you can connect to your extender’s network or not.

Make a LAN Connection

If you face issues while connecting to the WiFi of your Netgear extender, then we recommend using a LAN cable to join to its network now. See that you’re using a good LAN cable that’s able to make secure and firm connection. If you fail to connect using a wired connection then try the next fix that’s discussed ahead.

Fix Extender to Router Connection

The WiFi extender gets its input signals from the main router in the home. So, that implies the connection has to be well in place if you want to connect to your extender’s network on various devices. Verify the connection now. Check the Ethernet cable that you’ve used to connect both devices. If it is damaged then replace it immediately. In case it is loose then make sure you insert it correctly in the correct ports on both devices. Once you have fixed the faults, try joining the extender’s SSID on your PC or phone and see if the issue has been resolved or not.

By any chance if the connection between these two devices is a wireless one then see that the extender sits within the range of the router. Reduce the distance and see if this fixes the trouble. Try accessing mywifiext.local or default IP 192.168.1.250 on a browser to ensure this.

Reboot the Extender

There is a possibility that a technical glitch is stopping the connection. The reason for the glitches is mostly unknown. However, sudden disconnections in the internet connection and random power cuts are responsible most of times. To get the issue resolved, try rebooting your Netgear extender once or may be twice. Power down the WiFi extender and remove the power cable from its outlet. Wait for some time now. After about 5 or 10 minutes, plug in the extender and toggle the Power button to supply power. Once the extender is fully booted up, try to join its SSID.

Reset the Extender

By any chance if the extender is not providing you internet connection, then you should reset it to the factory settings. This erases the customized settings from it. This should also remove any obstacle that’s preventing the extender from working as expected. Thus, reset your Netgear extender now. Use the Reset button on the extender to reset it to the default settings.

In The End

As soon as the Netgear WiFi extender is reset and is running on the factory settings, you need to set it up from the very beginning. Use any method that you prefer. You can use the Netgear Nighthawk app or use the IP address 192.168.1.250 to reach the Netgear extender setup page to carry out the setup process.

To complete the setup process, you must connect to the extender’s SSID. So, connect to its default SSID on a computer or laptop or phone and carry out the setup steps. We are sure you will not face any trouble to connect to your extender’s network.
